Start a wedding Binder to hold all of your paperwork and design ideas.
Decide on a preliminary budget – Establish your priorities, and see where you have room to splurge!
Compile your preliminary guest list (you’ll need to know your guest count when you start inquiring with vendors)
Choose your bridal party – who do you want by your side throughout this process and at the altar?
Begin researching venues – Take tours of each to help narrow down your favorites.
Design Save the Date cards! – Now that you have a date, let people know to save it!
Find a dress and schedule a fitting.

9-6 Months to Go…
Create your Wedding gift Registry
Shop for men’s attire – get ideas of styles and looks that you want your guys to be in on your special day.
Shop for bridesmaid/flower girl dresses and give your bridal party clear instructions on how to place their orders.
Arrange hotel rooms for out of town guests.
Decide on transportation for the BIG DAY and book it.
Start dance lessons
Meet with your caterer and go over menu options
Take engagement photos
Decide on a location for your honeymoon, and update passports if needed.
Continue researching your vendors.
5-3 Months to Go…
Book the rehearsal and rehearsal dinner location – If you are including entertainment or specialty details like a groom’s cake, now is the time to lock in these elements.
Put together your rehearsal dinner guest list.
If you are having an “adult only” wedding, offer a childcare option for your guests with children.
Reserve all necessary party rentals and linens.
Design and order wedding favors for your guests.
Finalize men’s formal wear.
Finalize invitations – Design, wording, etc.
Finalize guest list and get everyone’s address.
Finalize timeline of the reception formalities.
Book a makeup and hair trial with your stylist.
Shop for and purchase your wedding rings.
Finalize honeymoon plans and update travel documents in necessary.
Finalize music details with band or DJ
You should have your bridal shower in this time frame.
8-6 Weeks to Go…
Mail Invitations- Have a game plan for recording the RSVPs and Meal choices. (A spreadsheet is a great way to keep organized)
Touch base with your vendors to confirm date, deposits and details.
Apply for your marriage license and name change documents.
Begin your dress fittings- be sure you purchase the appropriate undergarments beforehand and bring them with you to each fitting.
Give your wedding party a nudge – make sure they have ordered all necessary attire.
Write thank-you cards for shower gifts and any early wedding gifts received.
5-3 Weeks to Go…
Send out rehearsal dinner invitations. If your get-together will be informal, feel free to send an Evite.
Obtain marriage license and complete name change documents, if applicable.
Pick up your wedding rings and proofread any engraving!
Do you have something old, new, borrowed, and blue?
Purchase your guest book, toasting flutes, cake servers, unity candle, and all that good stuff!
Buy gifts for the Bridal Party and parents of the Bride and Groom.
Have your final dress fitting. Bring your shoes and accessories for the full impact.
Hunt down guests who have not sent their RSVP. Get your final guest count.
Finalize and confirm:
o Wedding vows & readings with your officiant.
o Shot list with your photographer/ videographer
o Song list for ceremony, cocktail hour and reception with your band/ DJ.
o Timeline for reception and who is giving the toasts.
o Wedding night and honeymoon accommodations.
2-1 Weeks to Go…
Give your caterer and venue the final guest count.
Create seating arrangements and place cards.
Pick up your gown. Swoon!
Confirm arrival times and finalize the wedding timeline with your wedding planner and vendors. Make sure your MOH has this info as well.
Put together your own bridal emergency kit.
Speaking of emergencies: Check the weather report, and if things look iffy contact your venue to make sure a contingency plan is in place.
Start packing for your honeymoon. Check the weather for help planning your outfits!
Now is the time to pamper yourself!!! Get a massage, facial, the works!
The Day Before…
Make sure all wedding-day items are packed/laid out and ready to go! (Don’t forget the rings and marriage license)
Figure out tips and final payments for vendors. Put them in clearly marked envelopes and give them to the Best Man or another person you trust to hand out at the reception.
Assign someone to pack up your gifts/belongings after the reception (don’t forget the top tier of the cake!).
Thank your BFF for agreeing to return your groom’s tux and other rental items the day after the wedding.
Enjoy a relaxing mani-pedi.
Attend the rehearsal and dinner. Now it’s time to give out wedding party gifts!
Try to go to bed early… you need your beauty sleep tonight!
Here Comes The Bride…
Allow plenty of time to get ready.
Do the rounds of your wedding- greet everyone and thank them for coming.
Take a deep breath. Stop to appreciate your new spouse and the day that you spent so much time planning.
After the Honeymoon/ Back to Reality…
Write and send Thank-you cards.
Complete your registry and exchange any unwanted or duplicate gifts.
Have your wedding dress cleaned and preserved by a reputable company.
Keep in touch with your Photographer/ Videographer to work on albums, DVDs, etc.
